"Spring is when you feel like whistling, even with a shoe full of slush."
— Doug Larson
Spring
Spring is here, which means severe weather can arrive at a moment’s notice, no matter where you live. Wind, rain, hail, tornadoes, and other elements can cause extensive damage to your home and property, so it’s always a good idea to be prepared for what Mother Nature throws your way.
The winter season might have done some damage to the exterior of your home. We recommend doing a visual inspection of your roof, foundation, siding or brick and all exterior trim boards. Look for deterioration and damage from the inclement weather; it’s a good idea to take a few photos each year so you can compare it to previous years.
It is the season to turn off your humidifier. Replace the filter in your furnace if you do not do it monthly, and have a professional air conditioning contractor inspect and service your system as recommended by the manufacturer.
Inspect and clean dust from the covers of your smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, replace batteries as needed. We like to write the date when you changed your batteries on the inside cover.
Clean your kitchen exhaust hood and air filter
Regular maintenance is the key to your decks longevity- this is the season clean and inspect. Power wash your pavers and wood or synthetic decking. You can use a deck cleaner to re-invigorate the surface or re-stain as needed.
Spring runoff and torrential rainstorms can all result in flooded basements. Make sure your pumps are running smoothly so they can do their job when you need them.
